Il Santuario di Oropa è dedicato alla Madonna nera, detta Santa Vergine di Oropa.
Il complesso si sviluppa su 3 piazzali a terrazzo. Nel primo cortile dell’ingresso troviamo edifici a 2 piani dove sono state ricavate ben 300 stanze per pellegrini. Sopra una scalinata l’imponente Porta Regia disegnata dal Juvarra.
Sul ripiano seguente ci attende un cortile seicentesco tutto porticato dove a metà sulla sinistra insiste il vecchio santuario con all’interno la statua della Madonna nera e del Bambino. Mentre il resto del complesso fu realizzato tra il XVII e il XVIII secolo su disegno dei più importanti architetti sabaudi quali il Juvarra, Guarini, Galletti, Arduzzi, Beltramo a Bonora.
L’imponete Basilica superiore fu consacrata nel 1960 con una cupola alta 80 metri.
The Sanctuary of Oropa is dedicated to the black Madonna, known as the Holy Virgin of Oropa.
The complex is spread over 3 terraced squares. In the first courtyard of the entrance we find 2-storey buildings where 300 rooms for pilgrims have been created. Above a staircase, the imposing Porta Regia designed by Juvarra.
On the next shelf, a seventeenth-century courtyard with arcades awaits us, where the old sanctuary stands halfway on the left, with the statue of the Black Madonna and Child inside. While the rest of the complex was built between the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries on the design of the most important Savoy architects such as Juvarra, Guarini, Galletti, Arduzzi, Beltramo a Bonora.
The imposing upper Basilica was consecrated in 1960 with an 80 meter high dome.
