Piena di edifici storici, chiese, monumenti e particolarità, (come il vicolo più stretto d’Italia sconsigliato a chi soffre di claustrofobia), aggiunti al panorama mozzafiato dai suoi 500 metri sul livello del mare distante solo 12 Km, fanno di Ripatransone un luogo assolutamente da visitare. Di epoca antichissima, fu fortificata nel periodo delle invasioni saracene. Fu sempre al centro delle lotte di potere tra Ascolani e Fermani. Divenne libero comune nel 1212 ma solo alla fine del 1500 definitivamente autonoma da Fermo. fu soprannominata Propugnaculum Piceni , ovvero La fortezza Piceno, in quanto rarissimamente fu espugnata.Solo Francesco Sforza vi riuscì’, ma i Ripani lo ricacciarono via solo dopo un anno.

Of Neolithic origins, lost its importance in the period of imperial Rome, only to be repopulated again in the period of the Saracen invasions. It was always at the center of the power struggles between Ascolani and Fermani. It became a free municipality in 1212 but only at the end of 1500 definitively autonomous from Fermo. it was nicknamed Propugnaculum Piceni, (Piceno fortress), as it was rarely conquered. Only Francesco Sforza succeeded, but the Ripani( the inhabitant of Ripatransone) drove it away only after a year.
