Non sappiamo esattamente quando il borgo di Moresco nacque, fu comunque luogo dove in età romana sorsero i primi insediamenti. Le prime notizie di hanno nell’ XI secolo. Tebaldo fu il primo di cui si hanno notizie certe. Nel XIII secolo divenne proprietà di Fermo e lo restò fino all’unità d’Italia.
Molte le leggende sulla sua edificazione. Alcune di queste parlano di Mori che nel periodo delle loro invasioni lungo la costa adriatica, si siano spinti verso la parte interna costruendo una roccaforte. In realtà è molto probabile che avvenne il contrario ovvero che esso fu eretto proprio per difendersi dal loro attacco.
Solo molto dopo che l’Italia fu unificata, Moresco tornò ad essere municipalità, esattamente il 26 giugno 1910.
Il suo nome pare derivi dal nome dal signore che per prima la governò.
La torre di forma completamente diversa dalle solite che vediamo in Italia, ha 7 lati. Alta 25 metri fu costruita nel XII secolo.
Bella è anche la torre dell’orologio del XIV secolo. Alcune chiese come quella di Sant’Antonio e la chiesa parrocchiale di San Lorenzo. La particolarità però di Moresco è il suo borgo: piccolo, a forma di ellisse con una piazza triangolare dove insiste il Palazzo del Comune. Vi sono ancora tracce della cinta muraria entrando dall’unico accesso al paese. Un particolare curioso è l’affresco della Madonna con Bambino che faceva parte della chiesa di Santa Maria in Castro, ora non più esistente, è visibile all’esterno.
We do not know exactly when the village of Moresco was born, it was however the place where the first settlements arose in Roman times. The first news dates back to the 11th century. Tybalt was the first of whom we have certain news. In the thirteenth century it became the property of Fermo and remained so until the unification of Italy.
There are many legends about its construction. Some of these speak of Moors who, during the period of their invasions along the Adriatic coast, pushed towards the interior building a stronghold. In reality it is very likely that the opposite happened, that is that it was erected precisely to defend itself from their attack.
Only long after Italy was unified, Moresco returned to being a municipality, exactly on June 26, 1910.
Its name seems to derive from the name of the gentleman who first ruled it.
The tower with a completely different shape from the usual ones we see in Italy, has 7 sides. 25 meters high, it was built in the 12th century.
The 14th-century clock tower is also beautiful. Some churches such as that of Sant’Antonio and the parish church of San Lorenzo. However, the peculiarity of Moresco is its village: small, in the shape of an ellipse with a triangular square where the municipality palace stands. There are still traces of the walls entering from the only access to the town. A curious detail is the fresco of the Madonna with Child that was part of the church of Santa Maria in Castro, now no longer existing, it’s visible from the outside.
