Castilenti è un paese di circa 1300 anime a confine tra la provincia di Teramo e quella di Pescara. La sua storia e’ millenaria avendo avuto origine con molta probabilità da un accampamento romano…il Castrum Lentuli da cui prende il nome. In epoca tardo medioevale e rinascimentale fu possedimento dei De Sterlich che vi costruirono un imponente palazzo marchesale tuttora visibile. È da menzionare il seicentesco convento francescano ricco di pregevoli affreschi e di un bellissimo chiostro. Attualmente il paese vive di produzioni agricole ma anche e soprattutto della sua attiva zona industriale ove sono insediati numerosi stabilimenti produttivi. Tra gli illustri personaggi nati nel borgo citiamo Padre Simone Mascetta (tra i primi missionari in America Latina) e Luigi Antonelli (commediografo e drammaturgo in attività agli inizi del secolo scorso).
Castilenti is a town of about 1300 inhabitant, on the border between the provinces of Teramo and Pescara. Its history is millenary having originated most likely from a Roman camp, the Castrum Lentuli from which it takes its name. In the late Middle Ages and the Renaissance De Sterlich family became the owner, who built an lordly marquis palace that is still visible today. It is worth mentioning the seventeenth-century Franciscan convent rich in valuable frescoes and a beautiful cloister. Currently the town lives off agricultural production but also and above all from its active industrial area where numerous production factories are located. Among the illustrious person born in the village, we mention Father Simone Mascetta (among the first missionaries in Latin America) and Luigi Antonelli (playwright in business at the beginning of the last century).
